Obituary for Evelyn M. O'Donnell

PEORIA—Evelyn M. O’Donnell, 91, of Peoria Heights passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at her cousin’s home in Peoria Heights.

Evelyn was born March 18, 1926 in Peoria to Jess and Maud Halstead Campbell. She married Jerry P. O’Donnell and he preceded her in death on September 29, 1987 in Peoria.

Also preceding her in death were one brother, Richard Campbell of Peoria.

Surviving are three cousins, Sharon Lewis of Peoria Heights, Joyce Clarke of Peoria and Roselee Price of Las Vegas, NV.

Evelyn started work at 17 years old in 1943 at Caterpillar. The Government sent her to welding school. She retired 30 years later as was known as Rosie the Riveter.

She was a member of the Caterpillar Girls Club and volunteered at the Salvation Army.
She was a member of Averyville Baptist Church in East Peoria.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at UnityPoint Health – Methodist Hospice.

Services will be at 12 Noon on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria with Pastor David Coyle officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services on Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Averyville Baptist Church or the Children’s Home.
