Obituaries

PEORIA – Beverly Mae Clausen, 84, of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Aperion Care in Peoria Heights.

Beverly was born on March 3, 1934 in Peoria to Henry M. and Marie M. (Janssen) Clausen.

She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Billy Clausen; 4 brothers, all American Veterans, Robert H. Clausen, Bruce E. (Rita) Clausen, Dean H. (Murial) Clausen, Shelby M. (Joan) Clausen; two sisters, Gladys and Donna Jean; and one brother-in-law, Harry J. Mulligan.

Surviving is her sister, Marguerite J. Mulligan of Peoria; three nieces, Sandra K. Clausen Morse of East Peoria, Cynthia Marechner of Decatur, and Julie Wiggins of Champaign; three nephews, Larry D. Clausen of Pekin, Steven J. (Annie Mae) Clausen of Hoschton, Ga., and David A. Clausen of Hoschton, Ga.; and several great-nieces and great nephews.

Beverly was a 1951 graduate of Manual Training High School. She was employed at john Hancock Life Insurance Co. for 29 years processing claims and was a supervisor, retiring in 1980.

Beverly tap danced with her three sisters as the 4 Clausen Sisters Dance Team for the Merkle Ford Dance Studio for many years; doing many New Years Eve shows at the Hub Ballroom in Edelstein, Ill. and did many benefit shows, was featured on T.V., and traveled Illinois. People would say they looked like twins.

She liked eating out and dancing and singing at karaoke. She was a really good singer. She had dogs and cats and her favorite was Blackie, the cat. Her best friend, Steve, loved her and took her traveling to many places across America. He always celebrated all the holidays with her two sisters and brother every year.

She was a longtime member of Galena Park Baptist Church on Galena Rd. in Peoria Heights.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Galena Park Baptist Church in Peoria Heights with Pastor Larry Johnson officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.

Memorial donations may be made to her church.
