Obituary for Walter J. Hopple, Jr.

PEORIA—Walter J. Hopple, Jr., 88, of Peoria, passed away at 9:46 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.

Born April 20, 1929, in Peoria, the son of Walter and Catherine Hopple, Sr., Walter married Evelyn Ready February 7, 1959. She died April 3, 1993 in Peoria. He later married Betty Meyers May 14, 1994 in Peoria. She died June 20, 2006 in Peoria.

Also preceding Walter in death was one son, Dennis Hopple; two sisters, Doris Danz and Kathryne Gauwitz.

A loving father, Walter is survived by one daughter, Debra (Bill) Poore of Creve Coeur; three grandchildren, Renea Hopple of Cornith, MS, Scott (Shannon) Hopple of Oxford, MS, David (Ashley) Hopple of Blue Mountain, MS; three great-grandchildren, Michael Rismiller, Michelle Rismiller and Matthew Rismiller; one brother, John (Carol) Hopple of Brimfield.

Walter was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

He owned and operated Midstate Landscaping and was happiest when he was working and enjoyed working his landscaping business.

Walter looked forward to his daily coffee with his coffee club meeting at 4 am.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at The Wilton Mortuary. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Mortuary. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
