Obituary for Mary Louise Keys

Mary “Louise” Keys, age 83, of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria.

Louise was born on November 12, 1933 in Ullin, Illinois to Elvis Turner and Ruthie Pearl (Eddleman) Kesler. She married Paul R. Keys on December 13, 1951 in Peoria and he preceded her in death on March 25, 2003. Also preceding her in death are her parents and an infant daughter, Connie Jo.

Surviving are her son, Michael (Deena) Keys of Peoria, IL; her daughter, Michele (Tim) Wilson of Peoria, IL; her three grandchildren, Bethany Keys, Abigail (Daniel) Pfeiffer, and Molly Wilson; and two great-grandsons, Jacob and Oliver Pfeiffer.

Louise was a secretary for the Boy Scouts of America and later became a secretary for the Peoria County Juvenile Court Services for 23 years, retiring in 1997. She also volunteered for the American Diabetes Association. Louise was a Sunday school teacher at First United Brethren for a number of years and most recently attended Bethany Baptist Church in Peoria. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 11am at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Rev. Lyall Sutton will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 4pm to 6pm as well as one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the Youth Music Illinois formerly the Central IL Youth Symphony.
