Obituary for Marguerite Sells

Marguerite Sells, age 98, of Peoria, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria.

Marguerite was born on May 12, 1920 in Bradford, Illinois to Theron C. and Hazel M. (Austin) Bare. She married Frank A. Sells on February 16, 1952 in Peoria and he preceded her in death in December of 1996. Also preceding her in death are her parents; her son-in-law, David Ikert; two brothers, Theodore and William Bare; her sister, Leona Doll, her brother-in-law, Charles Patterson and her sister-in-law, Ruby Bare.

Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Ikert of Villa Park, IL; her grandchildren, Kelly (Jason) Shaver of Redmond, WA and Benjamin Ikert of St. Charles, IL; her great-grandchildren, Jacob and Ashley Shaver; her sister, Naeoma Patterson and her sister-in-law, Leta Bare.

Marguerite was a loving wife and mother. She worked for Conco in Mendota during WWII, Caterpillar in East Peoria, Block & Kuhl and the Palace Cafeteria. She was also a vital part of Albert’s Pest Control, a business that her husband, Frank owned. She was a member of Peoria Heights Congregational Church and she loved raising African violets. Marguerite and Frank also loved square dancing, in fact, that was how they met!

Services will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 11am at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria with visitation beginning at 10am. Burial will be at Mounds Cemetery in Bradford, IL. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Heart Association or Proctor Place Employee Holiday Fund.
