Obituary for Katherine "Kathy" L. Kinkade

Katherine Lee Kinkade, 63, of Peoria passed away on Sunday 11/12/2017 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle against illness. Kathy was born on Feb 13, 1954 in Peoria to Frank and Phyllis (Witt) Kinkade.

She is survived by her three children, Frank Headington of Phoenix, AZ, Sarah (Travis) Preciado of Colorado Springs, CO, and Quinn (Amy) Headington of Peoria, IL. Kathy has three beautiful grandchildren, Anthony and Giavanna Preciado, and Lyla Headington. Her children and grandchildren were the love and center of her life.

Also surviving Kathy are two brothers, Stewart (Gigi) Kinkade and Steve (Connie) Kinkade both of Peoria, IL; and her mother, Phyllis.

Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Frank L. Kinkade Jr. whom she loved dearly.

For over 25 years, in addition to being a loving mother, Kathy worked with Kinkade Estate Sales and Appraisals and Linda Kumph Estate Sales. Like her father, Kathy was an extremely gifted artist and had an exceptional love for gardening and wildlife. She was an avid reader and loved her pets. As a child and continuing to her end of life on earth, Kathy could never turn her back to a stray cat, dog, or bird.

In addition to her loving family, Kathy leaves many very close friends who were her pillars of strength during her final struggle as she left this world to join our Savior and loved ones in heaven. Kathy would like that we all take time to reflect on our relationships with her and remember her at her best. She will live on in us all, and we can honor her by choosing kindness over anger, respect over judgment and love over fear.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 10am at First English Lutheran Church in Peoria. Burial of ashes will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Please send a donation to your worthy charity in lieu of flowers. Arrangements were handled through The Wilton Mortuary and online condolences may be made through www.thewiltonmortuary.com
