Obituary for Helene Betty Bishop

PEORIA--Helene Betty Bishop passed away at her home on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Peoria, IL. She was 91.

She was born on November 20, 1926, in East Peoria, IL to her parents, Hugo and Pearl (Case) Mitzelfelt. She married Russell Bishop on July 31, 1950, in Peoria.

Mrs. Bishop is survived by her daughters Sharon Bracken of Brimfield, IL and Janet (Michael) Fairfield, of Scottsdale, AZ, her grandchildren, B.J. Bracken of Brimfield, IL, Buster Bracken of Brimfield, IL, Alex Taus, Colorado Springs, CO; her great-granddaughter, Kennedy (Seth) Stephens, of Great Falls, MT; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her son-in-law, Bill, her parents, sisters and brothers.

She worked at the Pere Marquette and Canteen (at Caterpillar) for more than 30 years. She had a life-long passion to help others and volunteered at OSF and the Peoria Convention and Visitors’ Bureau. In addition, she was an active member in the Women’s Auxiliary of the 14th Armored Division Association.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 am, on Friday, January 19, 2018., at the Wilton Mortuary in Peoria, with services to follow at 11:00 am. Pastor Howard Love will officiate. Burial will be immediately following the service in Springdale Cemetery, in Peoria.
