Obituary for Florence E. Schwartz

Florence E. Schwartz, age 95, of Peoria, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria.

Florence was born on September 24, 1921 in Syracuse, NY to Jefferson L. and Katherine (Ihre) Schwartz.

Surviving are 17 nieces and nephews, most of whom live in Syracuse and the surrounding cities in New York, as well as in New Hampshire, Maryland, South Carolina, New Jersey and California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her five brothers, Edward, Robert, Alvin, William and Charles; and her sister, Bernice Groman.

Florence worked at various businesses as a bookkeeper and accountant in Syracuse, NY and later when she moved to New Jersey, in 1971, for eight years. She moved to Maryland in 1979 for two years while she worked as a secretary for the U.S. Census Bureau and then moved to Mansfield, Ohio with her special friend, Helen Brumm, in 1981 where she lived for 17 years before moving to Peoria in May of 1998.

She was a born again Christian and a member of the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church.

Services will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 10am at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria with visitation held one hour prior to the service. The ministers of the church will officiate. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Edwards, IL. Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Skylines Endowment Fund at the Apostolic Christian Skylines, 7023 NE Skyline Dr., Peoria, IL 61614.
