Obituary for Elsie Mai "Pat" Davis

PEORIA—Elsie Mai “Pat” Davis, 88, of Peoria, passed away at 8:42 a.m. Sunday, December 24, 2017 at UnityPoint Health Proctor.

Elsie was born in Clarksville, TN on March 21, 1929 to the late James Everett and Lena Mai Milam Carpenter. She married Maynard “Jack” Davis December 31, 1952 in Washington D.C. He survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mary Lena (James) Jennings of Maryville, TN; Jeanette Elaine (Glen) Esrig of Puerto Vallarta, MX; Deborah Irene (Monty) Armstrong of Arlington, TN; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was one brother, Bobby Gene Carpenter.

Pat, as she preferred to be called, started out, in her teens, as a seamstress in various clothing factories in TN, MD, and PA. She later opened her own shop, “Apparel Unlimited,” in Peoria.

She later worked 35 years in the restaurant business going from waitress, to bartender, to manager, to owner. In the Peoria area she worked at Stevie’s Latin Village, Murphy’s, Vonachen ‘s Junction, and Nino’s before opening her own restaurant, La Cantina Italiano.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
