Obituary for Elsie M. Carroll

WASHINGTON – Elsie M. Carroll, 92, of Washington, died Wednesday morning, January 10, 2018, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.

Elsie was born on February 28, 1925, to Chesley and Matilda (Mueller) Wilson in Peoria. She married J. Charles “Charlie” Carroll on January 26, 1944 in Peoria; he preceded her in death on November 1, 1996.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Janice Trowbridge, and Elizabeth Carroll; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters.

Elsie is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Trowbridge of Washington, IL, and Marjorie (Dr. Steve) Young of California; seven grandchildren, Elaine Naradowski, Christopher Trowbridge, Brian Trowbridge, Teresa Craig, Jon Trowbridge, Bret Young, and Dana Young; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Washington, IL. Elsie worked for PARC (EP!C) and Behm & Hageman for many years. She will be remembered as a great storyteller, a talented seamstress, an excellent cook, and an even better fisherwoman; although she did not enjoy the taste of fish.

Elsie came from a large, loving family and she made sure she continued that tradition in her family. Elsie and Charlie enjoyed traveling in their motor home and taking their grandchildren on special trips.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018, at The Wilton Mortuary, 2101 N. Knoxville Ave, Peoria, IL 61603. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the mortuary on Monday, January 15. Burial will take place at LaSalle Cemetery in Rome, IL.
