Obituary for Elizabeth L. Rein

Elizabeth L. Rein, age 96, of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria.

Elizabeth was born on January 8, 1922 at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Jennie J. Look, on McClure Avenue in Peoria. Her parents, Charles and Lenora (Look) Haller, divorced shortly after her birth and she was raised by her grandparents.

Elizabeth went to Glen Oak School and graduated from Peoria High School. She worked for Clark’s Department Store, was a bookkeeper for P.A. Bergner’s, and then for Caterpillar from 1940 to 1946. When she married Richard E. “Dick” Rein on July 14, 1946 in Peoria she went to work for Peoria School District 150 in accounts payable until she retired.

Surviving are her son, Ronald (Freddi) Rein of Deatsville, AL and her daughter, Carol (Jimmy) Johnson of Peoria Heights, IL; two grandchildren, Michael (Stacey) Binegar of Cantrall, IL and Ashley (Brandon) Hunt of Deatsville, AL; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, who passed away on February 8, 1996, and her brother, B.H. Look.

Elizabeth was a member of the Chicago Cubs Booster Club and of Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Peoria.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11am at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria with visitation beginning at 10am. Rev. Barry A. Long will be officiating. Entombment will be at American Mausoleum in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church at 908 Hanssler Place in Peoria or to Hospice Compassus at 2000 W. Pioneer Parkway in Peoria. Online condolences may be made through www.thewiltonmortuary.com
