Obituary for Doris J. Fenwick

BRIMFIELD – Doris Jean Fenwick, 94, of Brimfield died at 12:33 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at Courtyard Estates in Farmington, IL.

She was born on August 26, 1923, in East Peoria to Charles and Alta (Smith) Moke. Doris married Bernard “Gene” E. Fenwick on February 23, 1946, in Pekin, Ill; he preceded her in death on April 9, 2017, in Elmwood, IL. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, David Mullens; her brothers, Russell, Charles, and Bob Moke; her sisters, Bertha Dunn and Betty Walters; and a son-in-law, Daniel Crowe.

Doris is survived by her two daughters, Sandra J. Crowe and Debra Susan (Gregg) Silzer, all of Brimfield; her grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Mullens, Brian (Danielle) Mullens, Tina (Jarame) Runyon, David (Lorrena) Griffith, Julie (Justin) May, Jennifer (Justin) Smith and Jill Kennelly; 25 great-grandchildren; her sister, Anna Mae Decker; and many nieces and nephews.

Doris was a member and treasurer of the United Methodist Church in Edwards, Ill. She volunteered for 15 years at South Side Mission in Peoria and also worked for GEMCO. Doris loved to cook and entertain guests as often as she could. She mothered everyone and always took care of everything. Doris will be remembered for her honesty and enjoyed arguing with you as long as you agreed with her.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria, with the Rev. David Gruber officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary on Thursday, July 19. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria.

Memorial donations may be made to South Side Mission in Peoria.
