Obituary for Charlotte B. Wallen

Charlotte B. Wallen, age 94, of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Bridgeway Senior Living in Bensenville, IL.

Charlotte was born on October 25, 1923 in Rockford, Illinois to Carl J. and Lillie E. (Larson) Broman. She married Lowell L. Wallen on September 2, 1949 in Rockford. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2017. Also preceding her in death are one son, Timothy J. Wallen; her parents; and two brothers.

Surviving are one son, Peter L. (Cindy) Wallen of Wheaton, IL; and two grandchildren, David Wallen and Rebekah Wallen.

Charlotte graduated from North Park College in 1945 and the SwedishAmerican Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She was a nurse for the SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford and then later for Mary Greeley Hospital in Iowa, retiring in 1954. She was a member of the International Society of Poets as well as a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she was active in the Women’s Ministry and taught Sunday school.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10am at Living Waters Lutheran Church in Peoria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Visitation will also be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria.

Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church or Films for Christ.
